Some of us went along to the meeting of the Town Council on Thursday 28th November as their response to the Core Strategy and Neighbourhood Planning were on the agenda.
Their response to the Core Strategy, effectively CS24 as the Capricorn site, etc., is now called, was that there should be no housing and that land should be for employment only, (they had discussed a maximum of 50 houses only which would refer to the Persimmon application).
Neighbourhood Planning - the discussion on this agenda item had to be seen/heard to be believed. The Town Mayor and Town Clerk were aggressive and adamant in their insistence that a resolution had previously been passed to the effect that this issue would not be discussed unitl the Core Strategy had been published, (the current one being consulted on is a draft).They were also equally aggressive and adamant, particularly in their behaviour towards Councillor Corcoran, that the Mayor would not allow standing orders to be suspended in order for the item to be discussed because the request to suspend S.O.'s did not appear on the agenda. It was very obvious to those of us who attended the meeting that the Town Mayor is totally opposed to neighbourhood planning and will do everything in his power to ensure it never happens.
